Wood and Sels were rewarded for their excellent campaigns for Forest last season as they were included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2024-25 at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday night. They made the cut alongside stars like Salah, Isak, Declan Rice and Virgil van Dijk, though there was no room for either Bruno Fernandes or Cole Palmer despite the two attacking midfielders being nominated for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Alongside the omissions of Palmer and Fernandes, Manchester City had no players included for the first time since 2016-17. The Cityzens had a disappointing campaign, with the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne failing to reach heights they previously eased to, while midfield star Rodri was injured for most of the season.
The shortlist of players was compiled by members of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) in January, with the XI then being picked from a shortlist by stars throughout the Premier League.

WHAT NEXT?
Ten out of the 11 members of the Team of the Season were present to collect their trophies as Isak chose not to attend the function amid his ongoing stand-off with Newcastle over a transfer to Liverpool. Isak, though, released a statement to thank the PFA for the honour, while he also took an aim at Newcastle, claiming his relationship with the club is over. Newcastle next face the Reds in the Premier League.
